Voeding Leeft addresses a growing societal challenge: the rapidly increasing prevalence of type 2 diabetes. The condition leads to physical complaints, lower energy levels, limitations in daily life and negative effects on mental wellbeing. At the same time, type 2 diabetes contributes to rising healthcare costs and increasing pressure on healthcare systems.
There is therefore a growing need for effective and scalable interventions that support sustainable lifestyle and behavioural change.
Voeding Leeft developed a scientifically validated two-year Combined Lifestyle Intervention (CLI/GLI) for people living with type 2 diabetes. The programme is delivered by a multidisciplinary clinical team including nurses, dietitians and lifestyle coaches.
The approach has been recognised by Dutch health insurers and is reimbursed through the basic healthcare package, helping to make the programme accessible to a broader group of patients.
Through this investment, we support a proven and scalable approach that gives more people access to effective, reimbursed lifestyle support. In doing so, Voeding Leeft contributes to improved health outcomes, a better quality of life and reduced healthcare costs and system pressure.
