Programme Population Health
The Netherlands is facing major societal challenges. Pressure on healthcare continues to rise, health inequalities persist and more people are living longer in poor health. At the same time, health is still too often disconnected from economic and societal decision-making, while a healthy population is essential for a strong and thriving society.
Nieuw pleidooi voor gezondheid therefore contributes to a new societal and political narrative: health as the foundation for prosperity, participation and future-proof policy choices.
Nieuw pleidooi voor gezondheid brings together thinkers, policymakers, professionals and social organisations to place health higher on the public agenda.
The initiative develops and shares new ideas about the relationship between health, economy and society. Through gatherings, public contributions, advocacy and strategic collaboration, it works towards greater support for prevention policies and a society in which health is embedded across all areas of policy.
In doing so, the initiative contributes to the shift from a system focused on disease and healthcare towards a society where health and prevention come first.
Nieuw pleidooi voor gezondheid connects people and organisations who believe that health is a shared responsibility. By bringing together knowledge, influence and networks, a broad movement emerges that works towards a healthier and more equitable society.
This initiative is part of our Population Health Programme, in which we work on sustainable solutions to strengthen the health of neighbourhoods, communities and populations.
