A doctor in every neighborhood
There are more general practitioners than ever. Almost 12,000 in the Netherlands! If 90% of them chose to serve their own population, every Dutch person would have a regular family doctor again. But the opposite is happening. Meanwhile, almost half of the GP care is provided by self-employed colleagues. Buurtdokters wants to make it appealing and natural again to be a regular family doctor.
The health care system is changing and general practitioners' practices are under pressure, while appropriate primary care for patients remains important. Having access to a doctor nearby who knows their patients and is available for longer periods of time has great benefits. It leads to better health and less healthcare consumption.
Buurtdokters is a network for and by general practitioners. Together, they work toward their mission of providing easily accessible, long-term and appropriate care for all. This starts with a committed team and a well-organized practice. Applying integrated solutions creates overview and gives the GP time and flexibility so that the practice becomes manageable and appealing. The team is relieved, work processes optimized and, if necessary, IT systems adapted. Follow-up, modernization, training and guidance are provided. Everything that is deployed is aimed at improving the practice. And all this stems from a future-proof vision and in cooperation with healthcare partners in the immediate vicinity.
...The idea that I can possibly be a regular family doctor for the same patient group until I retire makes me so happy. It has added value.
