Lifestyle

The largest and strongest growing health and economic burden comes from diseases that are primarily linked to an unhealthy lifestyle. Although this can best be combated through prevention, the earning models and validated interventions are still scarce. Lifestyle can also play an important role in a curative sense; as treatment or in support of treatment. This program addresses these issues.

The largest and strongest growing health and economic burden around health comes from diseases that are primarily linked to an unhealthy lifestyle. Although this can best be combated from the perspective of primary prevention, the earning models and validated interventions are still scarce. However, lifestyle can also play an important role in a curative sense; as treatment or in support of treatments.

In the program Lifestyle (Medicine) the curative side of lifestyle-related diseases was deliberately started in order to (1) contribute to a healthcare system that focuses on positive health instead of (only) fighting diseases and (2) because there is more research capacity, urgency for validation, infrastructure and funding available for curative programs to learn lessons about behavioral change and health.
